ICE+ Cellphone panic button
F.A.Q
Contacts - how do I add emergency contacts?
Simply login to the website, where you can add or edit your emergency contacts.
Contacts - how many emergency contacts can I add?
You can add up to 6 emergency contacts.
Emergency alert - how do I trigger one?
Once you have added your emergency number to your cell phone, and assigned it to a speed dial number, simply press the speed dial number until a call is made. After a few seconds the call will end automatically, and your emergency alert will be sent. If you do not have a speed dial set up, then simply dial 087 5500 911 to trigger the alert.
Emergency alert - how long does it take to receive the alert?
The alert will be sent to your contacts within 20 -90 seconds. Please note that this is the average time, and that delivery speed depends on various things such as network speed and reception that lie outside of our control.
Emergency alert - what happens when I trigger one?
All your contacts will be sent an SMS and e-mail. The SMS will include your name, and if you are a Vodacom or MTN subscriber, your last known location. (CellC do not support Location Based look ups at all... yet!) The e-mail will also display an image map of your last location.
Emergency alert - where will it work?
As long as you are anywhere in South African with cell phone reception, the panic alert will work. You don’t have to be at home or at work.
Emergency alert - why use the number "5" for the speed dial?
The number "5" normally has a ridge on it as a "blind aid", and it is in the middle of your keypad. Of course, you can always assign the
Emergency number to all your numbers!
Emergency alert - will it tell me who pressed their panic button?
Yes, and you will receive the name and number of the person that pressed the panic button.
Important - Caller ID
Please make sure that Caller ID is enabled on your cell phone. If Caller ID is blocked, we will not be able to identify your cell number in an emergency.
Important - locked handset!
Note that your handset must not be locked - you must unlock it to make the emergency call.
Important - you need airtime!
You will not be able to dial the emergency number if you are not allowed to make calls through your cellular provider.
